The operation of an anonymous reward program that involves the citizens, the media, and local area law enforcement in an effective crime control program. The program is designed to assist law enforcement agencies in the identification, apprehension and prosecution of persons suspected of having committed a criminal act.
Brownsville Crime Stoppers was created in 1982 from the efforts of the Chamber of Commerce and the Brownsville Police Department. The program is made up of a board of citizens from our community, but is operated by the Brownsville Police Department. It is also an independent 501-C3 non-profit organization and an anonymous reward program that involved the citizens, the media, and the police in an effective crime control program.
The program offers cash rewards of up to $1000 dollars and guarantees anonymity to person(s) who furnishes information that leads to an arrest and or indictment of suspect(s) involved in a crime.
If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation or volunteer to serve on our board, please contact our Crime Stoppers Coordinator (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information.
